How do you install Dutch Lap slate shingles?

Back in March 2008, we were asked to supply our North Country Unfading Black slate for the American Brewery Restoration project in Baltimore, MD. The “Darth Vader” building as we fondly refer to was built in 1863 and Norman Gothic style architecture.  Part of the building’s charm is the detailed slate roof.

Located in the highlands of Navesink, NJ the All Saints’ Memorial Episcopal church known as “The Stone Church” was built in 1864 and the Rectory which was used as a schoolhouse was built in 1865.  In 2016, the church and rectory received a $150,000 New Jersey Historic Trust grant for the slate roof replacements.

The Old Stone Meeting House, formerly The Old Stone Church was built in 1813 and is the oldest surviving building in Nyack, New York (Rockland County).  The Federal Architectural style church with its pitched gable slate roof has protected this church/house for over 200 years! What other roofing material can offer that same performance?

The Fulton Mansion, a classic example of French Second Empire architecture was built between 1874-1877 for George Ware Fulton, an East Coast engineer, inventor and ranching entrepreneur.  The mansion was fondly named Oakhurst by George and his wife Harriet because of the large oak trees on the property.

Formerly the Kent County Courthouse, which was originally constructed in 1804 was repurposed as the East Greenwich Town Hall in 1974. Located at 125 Main Street, the yellow and white Colonial Revival style building, is one of the largest on the street.
