The Pillow Thompson House was built in 1896 by Jerome Bonaparte Pillow and remained in the family for five generations. In 1992 it was donated by the family to the Phillips Community College Foundation, part of the University of Arkansas and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 7, 1973. The house underwent a major interior and exterior renovation in the 1990’s and in 2008 we supplied our Canadian Black (North Country Unfading Black) roofing slate.
Located in Helena, Arkansas the home is a beautiful example of Queen Anne architecture and one of Arkansas’ most outstanding high Victorian Period structures. This two-storey multi-bay frame house has multiple towers, turrets, seven points to the roof and dormer windows. The main hip roof, towers, dormers and bays are covered with slate shingles. The house was originally painted yellow with white trim.
North Country Unfading Black (Canadian Black) roofing slate is produced in Quebec, Canada and has been used extensively throughout North America, Europe and the United Kingdom. This slate was also supplied for the Pulaski County Courthouse, University of Arkansas Old Main and Arkansas Baptist Church.
With over 20 years customer and sales experience in the slate industry, we are proud of the premium quality roofing slates we offer. For a list of our Canadian Black project references, please call our office at Toll Free 1-800-975-2835.
